Wagashi Sweets Making
Enter the world of modern wagashi—Japanese confections that blend seasonal beauty, mindfulness, and edible artistry—in this hands-on workshop led by Oshiriai Studio.
- Learn the meditative techniques of sculpting, shaping, and decorating as you create three nerikiri-inspired confections, made from white bean paste and glutinous rice flour.
- Choose from a selection of seasonal fillings including passion fruit, jasmine, salted cherry blossom, and lemon, and craft your own edible expressions with a contemporary twist.
- All materials will be prepared in advance, allowing you to focus on the creative and sensory experience of confection making.
- This special edition takes inspiration from the work of artist Zhuo Xiong, whose solo exhibition at Fou Gallery explores themes of identity and transformation. Each confection reflects the colors and emotion of his paintings in delicate, edible form.
- Enjoy the wagashi you’ve created with a cup of complimentary tea—an invitation to slow down, savor, and connect.
All tools and ingredients are provided—just bring your curiosity and openness to create.
You’ll leave with three beautifully crafted sweets and a renewed sense of connection to art, season, and self.
