Korean Dessert Making to Celebrate Chuseok
Chuseok, Korea’s harvest festival, is a time of gratitude, family gatherings, and sharing food. This hands-on series with Jennifer Lee Ban (“Mama Ban”), founder of Rice Blossoms, invites you to experience the artistry of traditional Korean desserts, reimagined for today.
The Desserts
Dashik (Black Sesame Tea Cookie): Once reserved for royalty, these delicate pressed cookies symbolize elegance and refinement. Made with black sesame, honey, corn syrup, and mung bean powder.
Songpyeon (Half-Moon Rice Cake): The iconic Chuseok rice cake, filled with brown sugar, honey, and sesame seeds, shaped into six different forms and steamed together.
Danja (Filled Rice Cake): Bite-sized rice cakes with festive fillings such as yuja, matcha, date, walnut, almond, coconut, and more.
