ICHIJYU ISSAI: A Meditative Meal & Matcha Ritual
Step into a hidden Japanese tatami room in the heart of Union Square, for an intimate and meditative gathering inspired by the philosophy of Ichijyu Issai—“one soup, one dish.”
- Begin with a grounding breathwork session before savoring a simple, sensory-based meal of brown rice onigiri, handcrafted miso soup by MISOMARU, and a seasonal wagashi—each element chosen for its connection to Japanese fermentation, seasonality, and mindful nourishment.
- Experience the ritual of tea as Takeda Zen leads a ceremonial matcha offering using Kyoto ceremonial-grade matcha from Wmatcha & Co. 1704, prepared with reverence and intention.
- The evening concludes with a singing bowl meditation, gently integrating the experience and guiding you back to self.
Held in a private, traditional tatami room, this experience is thoughtfully curated by MISOMARU as a portal to reconnect with the body—through eating with presence, reverence, and all five senses.
You’ll leave with a softened mind, nourished body, and renewed sense of stillness.
