In the rarefied world of luxury hospitality, Aman has long been synonymous with tranquility, privacy, and refined design. With Amangati, the brand prepares to carry that ethos onto the water, opening a new chapter in how its guests experience travel. The unveiling of Aman’s inaugural yacht marks both a milestone in maritime hospitality and a fresh interpretation of Aman’s idea of sanctuary at sea, where each horizon is approached with the same sense of calm and contemplation that has defined the brand for decades.

The Promise of Amangati: A Floating Aman Sanctuary

Scheduled to debut in the Mediterranean in 2027, Amangati is under construction at the T. Mariotti shipyard in Genoa, Italy. At approximately 600 feet in length and with just 47 spacious suites for around 94 guests, the ship is designed to feel more like a private yacht than a traditional cruise vessel, emphasizing space, privacy, and a low guest count. The vessel’s name, derived from Sanskrit to mean “peaceful motion,” encapsulates Aman’s intent that time on board feels unhurried, with journeys unfolding at a measured pace that mirrors the sea itself.

Design: Japanese Tranquility at Sea

Amangati is being crafted in collaboration with Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, whose vision translates Aman’s minimalist, nature-focused language into a maritime setting. Inspired in part by the serenity of Japanese ryokans, the interiors emphasize clean lines, natural materials, and generous volume, with every suite featuring a private balcony and expansive windows that keep the sea in constant view. Rather than overt opulence, the atmosphere is centered on light, proportion, and tactility, creating a continuous sense of calm from suite to spa to open decks.

Atmosphere and Experience

Across nine decks, Amangati is being conceived as a series of layered spaces that balance social connection with seclusion. At the heart of the ship is a horizon-facing Aman Spa with an open-air garden element, designed as a sanctuary for reflection and wellness with uninterrupted sea views. Alongside the spa, expansive outdoor decks, a pool area, and quiet lounges invite guests to move intuitively between sun, shade, and sea air throughout the day.

Culinary and Entertainment

Amangati will feature four dining venues, reflecting both the regions visited and Aman’s global culinary footprint. These include Nama, Aman’s signature Japanese restaurant concept, as well as additional venues offering Mediterranean and international cuisine, complemented by more casual, all-day options. Evenings can continue in an intimate jazz club, where live music and handcrafted drinks extend the sense of unhurried, after-dark ritual that many Aman guests associate with the brand’s resorts.

Connection to the Sea

A generous beach club at the stern provides direct access to the water, reinforcing the sense of being immersed in the surrounding seascape rather than merely observing it from afar. From here, guests can step down to the sea for swimming and water activities or simply linger at the edge of the yacht, suspended between deck and horizon. Throughout the ship, a strong indoor–outdoor flow ensures that the Mediterranean and other future cruising regions remain a constant presence, visually and experientially.

Service and Sanctuary

Aman’s reputation rests heavily on discreet, anticipatory service, and Amangati is intended to extend that approach onto the water. While specific staffing ratios have not been publicly detailed, the low guest count and suite-only configuration are designed to support highly personalized hosting, both in suites and in shared spaces. The focus is less on formality and more on intuitive gestures: remembered preferences, seamless logistics, and a sense that each journey has been quietly tailored to the individual or group on board.

Wellness Journeys

The Aman Spa aboard Amangati is envisioned as a central axis for wellness, drawing on both Eastern and Western traditions in keeping with Aman’s resorts. Guests can expect a combination of tailored treatments, movement-focused offerings, and contemplative spaces that respond to the shifting landscapes outside whether anchored in a quiet bay or approaching a storied port. Wellness will be integrated into the rhythm of each voyage, not just confined to a treatment room, creating opportunities for restoration throughout the day.

Sustainability and Technology

Amangati will be powered in part by battery technology as part of a broader effort to reduce emissions and operate more quietly and efficiently. This hybrid approach sits alongside a wider sustainability ambition: to tread lightly in the coastal environments the yacht visits and to align onboard operations with evolving expectations of responsible luxury travel. While full technical specifications have not yet been disclosed, the emphasis on newer propulsion solutions signals an intent to balance comfort with environmental consideration.

Itineraries and Private Charter

The ship is set to launch in the Mediterranean, with itineraries focused on some of the region’s most storied coastlines and harbors. Over time, it is expected that Amangati will explore additional regions, with early commentary pointing to interest in destinations such as the Caribbean and other high-end cruising grounds. In addition to scheduled voyages, the yacht will be available for private charter and hosted events, allowing families, groups of friends, and brands to create fully tailored journeys and gatherings at sea.

A New Chapter for Aman

For more than three decades, Aman has refined a particular idea of sanctuary—intimate, design-led, and deeply attuned to setting. Amangati translates that vision into a maritime context, using scale, spaciousness, and carefully curated programming to preserve a sense of calm even while traveling between destinations. Rather than a radical departure, the yacht represents a new medium for Aman’s longstanding principles: connection to place, privacy, and an emphasis on how a journey makes guests feel long after they return to shore.
