We are paid for it, or we are hosted for it
Either money changed hands, or a stay, a table or a trip was arranged and paid for by the partner. Both are a material connection and both are disclosed.

The partner sees it before it runs
They get a preview and they sign it off. Nothing else we publish works that way. We keep control of how the piece is made and of what it says.

It is labelled, every time
The label sits at the top of the piece, and it is probably how you got to this page. If a piece is not labelled, no one paid for it and no one arranged it.
What a partnership never buys
A partnership runs as an article. It does not buy a place in the guide. The guides, places and events in the Exqz Guide app are chosen by our curators against a written standard and are not for sale at any price. No budget has moved a place into the guide, up it, or out of it.
That line is why a feature here is worth more than a placement elsewhere. Readers trust the entries around it, and they trust those because we have never blurred the two.

Media partnerships, where nothing is paid
We also work with events, institutions and other publications where no money changes hands. We agree to cover something in return for equivalent exposure on their channels.
A hosted trip, a stay or a table arranged by the subject counts here too. Nothing was invoiced, but something of value was received, so it is disclosed on the same terms and carries the same label.
