Seahorse, the seafood restaurant and raw bar inside W New York – Union Square, now serves brunch. It launched on Saturday, September 12, 2026, and runs every Saturday from noon to 3 pm. The format is simple: bottomless Aperol, Hugo and Amaro spritzes, four oysters for each guest and a brunch entrée of your choice, with a live jazz band in the room. We went for brunch on launch day, as guests of the restaurant.

The hotel added a second brunch the same weekend, at Guardian at The W, its rooftop. Created in partnership with Bowery Meat Company, it runs every Sunday from noon to 3 pm, with an open bar, a DJ, and New Zealand lamb lollipops and wagyu cheeseburger sliders for each guest. Seahorse belongs to Mercer Street Hospitality, the New York group that also runs Lure Fishbar and Bowery Meat Company.

Spritzes and a round of oysters

The meal opens with oysters, served on crushed ice and seaweed in a white, shell-shaped bowl with mignonette and lemon. The spritzes keep coming throughout, garnished with mint, dried orange and sprigs of rosemary.

The entrées

The entrée list leans on brunch classics. Golden baked pancakes come with French butter and blueberry compote, and brioche French toast with seasonal berries and New York State maple syrup.

There are two eggs Benedict: a classic version with Canadian bacon and hollandaise, and a Norwegian one with smoked salmon.

For something heartier, prime steak and eggs pairs a six-ounce steak with entrecôte sauce and crispy potato, and the shakshuka sets pastured eggs in a spiced tomato stew with toasted sourdough.

The smoked salmon tower stacks salmon, bagel crisps, hard-boiled eggs, capers and pickled onion on a three-tier stand. The menu also offers an omelette frites, with smoked salmon or mushrooms, and avocado toast with heirloom radish and pickled onion.

The room

Brunch is served in the main dining room, a long space of wood-panelled walls, deep blue banquettes, white tablecloths and clusters of pleated lamp shades, with a painted mural of rolling waves and sea creatures curving overhead.

The bar is a curve of ribbed wood under a lit arch, lined with tufted leather stools and backed by tiered shelves of bottles.

At brunch, the jazz band sets up beneath the mural.
