Editorial feature

We publish city guides, and a feature is made the way the guides are made. A curator comes to your place and writes it to the standard the guide is held to. A photographer comes as well if you want new pictures, and if you do not, we work with the images you already have. It publishes as an article, labelled as a partnership, and runs on @exqzguide.

What you get

What a feature includes

• A visit, not a press release

  A curator spends time in the room and writes from what they found there. If there is nothing worth writing about, we say so before you pay for it.

• Photography, if you want it

  A photographer can come on the same visit, scoped and priced separately. If your own pictures are good enough, we use those instead.

• Published, then kept

  It publishes as an article on the site and in the app, and runs on @exqzguide. The post scrolls away, the article does not.

• An article, not an entry in the guide

  A feature is reporting, and it sits with the articles. The guides, places and events are a curator's call and are not for sale at any price, so a feature does not put your place among them.

• Editorial context

  It is written by the people who choose what goes in the guide, and held to the standard they hold their own selections to. It says at the top that it was paid for.

• Our readers

  @exqzguide is led from New York and pointed at the cities we publish, and the people reading it are choosing where to go this week.

• It does not expire

  A paid placement ends when the budget ends. The article stays up, on the site and in the app, where people find it by looking rather than by scrolling.
