Corinthia Rome

Corinthia Rome

Rome, Italy·5.0 (10)·$1,266

Corinthia has opened its first Italian address inside the former Bank of Italy headquarters on Piazza del Parlamento in Campo Marzio, a palazzo designed by Pio and Marcello Piacentini and completed in 1921 that served as a seat of Italian finance for a century before GA Group led a philological restoration stripping back later interventions to reveal original marble, frescoes, mosaics, and stuccoes in their first proportions. The hotel holds 60 rooms and 21 suites, the most notable being the Theodoli Heritage Suite, set inside the former Council Chamber beneath 1920s frescoes by Giulio Bargellini and a ceiling by Guglielmo Janni depicting an allegorical map of Italian currency, the Chigi Suite with a rooftop terrace looking directly at Parliament, and the Aurea Penthouse, which takes its name and design cues from Nero's Domus Aurea. Three dining venues led by Carlo Cracco cover contemporary Italian at Viride, Roman tradition at Piazzetta, and aperitivo at Ocra Bar. Inside the bank's former vault, the subterranean spa houses three treatment rooms and two bathing pools, turning what was once one of Rome's most secure rooms into one of its most tranquil.
