Sorate

Flatiron District·4.5 (42)

Photography by SORATE

Sōrate’s new outpost in Flatiron on 30 East 18th Street offers a rare pause in the city’s constant motion—a serene space where Japanese tradition meets contemporary design. Guests are invited to sip first-harvest green tea from Uji, Kyoto, take part in guided matcha tastings, pair teas with delicate Japanese confections, and join cultural rituals such as Table-Style Tea Ceremonies. The concept began in 2020, when Silvia Mella set out to bring the quiet elegance of Japanese tea culture to New York; by 2023, Nicola Zanatta had joined her vision, helping grow Sōrate into a destination that celebrates both heritage and modernity. Open daily from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, the Flatiron location embodies the essence of slowing down—an intentional retreat designed for savoring stillness in the heart of Manhattan.
