Arcora Opens in Finnish Lapland in December 2026: 59 Suites and Villas at the Edge of a National Park
Arcora Boutique Hotel & Villas opens on 14 December 2026 at Porotie 1 in Muonio, Finnish Lapland, against the boundary of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. Fifty-nine suites and villas, a restaurant built around the eight seasons of the Lapland year under chef Arto Rastas, a spa floor with a rooftop infinity pool, and huskies, reindeer and snowmobiles run on site by a family company that has been guiding here since 1973. Packages start at €3,180 per person for three nights.
Arcora Boutique Hotel & Villas opens on 14 December 2026 at Porotie 1 in Muonio, a lakeside village in Finnish Lapland. It has 59 suites and villas, a restaurant organised around the eight seasons of the Lapland year, a champagne bar, a bakery, a spa floor with a rooftop infinity pool, and a helipad. Construction started in May 2025 on a budget of €25 million, of which €1.5 million is EU funding.
Where it is
The site runs up against the boundary of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, so the snowshoe and ski routes start at the edge of the property rather than at a trailhead you drive to. One long hotel building sits in a clearing, and the standalone villas are scattered through the trees around it rather than lined up along a shore.
The Finnish Meteorological Institute has measured air at Sammaltunturi, inside the same national park, since 1994, as a station in the World Meteorological Organization's Global Atmosphere Watch network. Muonio records roughly four micrograms of sub-ten-micrometre particulate per cubic metre. The measured zone extends about a hundred kilometres around the station, and Arcora sits inside it.
Muonio sits 50 kilometres north of Levi and about three hours' drive north of Rovaniemi. Arcora includes return airport transfers in its packages.
The rooms
There are four categories: two suite types inside the hotel and two standalone villas outside it.
Jr Suite Kalle is the entry room and the one every published rate is based on. Two of them interconnect into a 60 square metre two-room suite. Executive Suite Jussi adds a bedroom separate from the living area, plus a spa area of its own with a view sauna and a bathtub set toward the window. A Jussi joined to a Kalle makes a 73 square metre two-bedroom.
Deluxe Villa Jouni is a standalone building with a view sauna, a kitchenette and a private terrace with its own outdoor hot tub. It is the only category with a kitchen of any kind. Sky Villa Antti puts the bed on the second floor under a panoramic window that opens north and overhead, so the aurora, when it appears, is above you rather than out to one side.
Eating
Restaurant 8 is named for the eight seasons the Lapland year is traditionally divided into rather than the four most of Europe uses, and the menu is meant to move with them. The kitchen is led by Arto Rastas, a Finnish chef who has worked across restaurants, culinary education, consulting and food media, and who has represented Finland on its national culinary team. The signature format is an eight-course tasting menu.
Dinner is not confined to the dining room. The same company runs wilderness dinners out of timber kotas on the lake, cooked over open flame, and sells them as part of the programme rather than as a separate booking. There is also a champagne bar and a bakery on site.
The spa
The spa has a level to itself. The centrepiece is a rooftop infinity pool aimed north over the forest, with saunas, an outdoor pool and bookable private wellness rooms alongside it. Guests can also be taken to Arctic Sauna World, a lakeside sauna site a short transfer from the hotel.
What you can do
Arcora is being built by Harriniva Hotels & Safaris, a third-generation family company that has run lodging and guided Arctic trips out of Muonio since 1973, including more than thirty years of husky operations. The kennels, the guides and the snowmobiles are already on the site, and the reindeer come from the Torassieppi farm on the same lake.
The programme covers husky sledding, reindeer sledding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice fishing, aurora hunting and a visit to Santa. Overalls, boots, gloves, hats and safety equipment are included rather than rented at the door, and Arcora states that there are no separate equipment rentals.
What it costs
Arcora sells packages rather than room nights. Three nights start at €3,180 per person and four nights at €4,200, both based on two people sharing a Jr Suite Kalle, for arrivals between 14 December 2026 and 18 April 2027. Both include return airport transfers, accommodation, all meals, selected non-alcoholic drinks, the winter clothing and equipment, the guided experiences and daily spa access. The four-night package adds a sixty-minute private sauna with a sixty-minute massage, and the eight-course signature dinner.
